FINAL DESIGN 2
For my final design 2, I will be merging Derek Payne's photography work with Harold Feinstein's. I aim to adapt on Payne's work by capturing images in his style and further merging sunsets into different types of flowers that I will also capture, which is Harold Feinstein's main focus. I aim to edit my image on Adobe Photoshop to produce the most high-quality finish as I can. I aim to produce one final piece to portray the well-blended ideas of Payne and Feinstein which will hopefully result in a defined, eye-catching piece.
Original photographs taken to use in my final design:
I captured a variety of different images in different settings. The main concept for this final idea was to merge together beautiful still shots of flowers in the style of Feinstein together with different images of a nature setting images to elaborate on Derek Payne's style.
FINAL PIECES:
For these images, my main starting point was cutting around the background that was not needed and replacing this with black from the paintbrush tool. I then carefully edited the images so that the colours of the flowers were captivating and bright compared to the dark, bold background in order for the colours to appear striking for later editing. However, I decreased the brightness slightly and sharpened around the areas that were directed further towards the camera. These were the larger petals that were mainly centered up front. I then used the quick selection tool to cut round the nature images that I selected to use for each image that would suitably blend into the flower. I carefully cut round the areas on these images that I want to have displayed through the flowers. I carefully aligned these in the sections of the flower where I wanted, and then used the layering tool to blend in the two contrasting images. I changed the layering effect multiple times for both images to choose the most ideal edit that helped to blend in the nature scene into the flower without creating any harsh patches or areas that seemed to not fit well. For Photo 1, I used the "hard light" layering effect whereas in Photo 2, I used pin light to softly merge in the images. After this, for both images, I altered the images once more, by using the different edits positioned in the adjustments bar. I decreased the saturation, so that both images were smoothly transitioned well without being too coloured. I also decreased the brightness which once again helped to blend in the nature images into the flowers so that it didn't appear as an obvious merge, but rather natural.
I believe I could've produced more edits to create one large piece of many different types of flowers with different scenery images merged into them. The concept of my final idea was quite challenging as it required me to slowly build on my edit and the process was quite time-consuming as merging in the images well enough required a lot of concentration and focus in a small amount of time. However, I do believe my edited images helped me to display my idea well enough, it was just the matter of completing an edit to the best of its' potential which did require me to take longer than expected.
